Re-employed pensioners
If you start receiving your Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) pension then get a new job, it may affect your pension income.
If your new employer has a different scheme as their work pension, your LGPS pension will stay the same. You don’t need to give us any details about your new job.
If your new employer uses LGPS as their work pension, you must tell us about your new job, whether or not you choose to re-join the pension scheme. Your current LGPS pension will stay the same unless it was enhanced. This means you received either:
- Compensatory Added Years (CAY) or increased membership or pension as part of your retirement package; or
- Extra membership or pension as part of ill-health retirement.
If your LGPS pension was enhanced, we may have to reduce or stop it. We will work this out when you start your new job.
Please note that taking flexible retirement does not mean you’re a re-employed pensioner.
