McCloud information for employers
When the Government reformed public service pension schemes in 2014 and 2015, they introduced protections for older members. In December 2018, the Court of Appeal ruled that these reforms discriminated against younger members of the Judges' and Firefighters' Pension schemes because those protections did not apply to them. This ruling is often called the McCloud Judgment.
As a result, every public sector pension scheme, including the LGPS, has made changes to remove this age discrimination.
LGPS Funds must collect certain types of member information from employers for the period 1st April 2014 to 31st March 2022, which will allow them to work out the protection for members’ benefits, known as the underpin. This member data includes:
- Changes in hours worked
- Changes in weeks worked, for term time employees
- Service breaks
These links take you to the templates employers use to supply the Clwyd Pension Fund with the above details, along with guidance notes for completing them.
LGPS Data Template Service Breaks V1
Employer Guidance Notes on LGPS Data Templates - July 2020
You must keep supplying details of ongoing hours worked, weeks worked, and service breaks to the Clwyd Pension Fund for members currently paying LGPS contributions. Please use iConnect and Notification of Leaver Forms for this instead of the templates above.
